Dash would like to immediately Distance himself from the Opinions of the previous Road Warrior, Who has Been demoted to “old man sugar-tits” On the authority of Dash’s huge nuts.

I actually have a method of making that happen. Pitts corp serpentine PTO clutch. Except mine would work.

The challenge on making a Weiand setup actually work clutched is not putting the clutch on the nose, it’s rigging the bypass so it actually passes air when the screws aren’t spinning.

I’m fairly sure it’s doable by replacing the back plate with a milled piece so the air can travel over the top of the screws, and then putting the mother of all reed valve setups on the port where it reenters the manifold (set the blower up an inch and a half or so with a spacer, or dig out the manifold).

That way, standard airflow sucks over the top of the screws, around the end, and back in like so:

And when the blower kicks on, it slams the reed valve shut:

All it requires is machining two pieces - the new rear cap with its bearing cavities/oil passages/etc., and the blower spacer.

Another thought on a bypass spacer - it’d be really easy to make the bypass spacer do extra cooling as well.

I have twice gotten acknowledgement from guys in Porsches driving the Galaxie. Sure, I didn’t spend anywhere near what they did, but I’m driving it around, and that takes commitment, which is what it’s really about.

the ‘nod’ is the great equalizer. thumbs are acceptable. My Malibu was loaned out for a little funny or die segment once. The acquaintance noted to me that he’d never experienced “the nod” before.

On a Corvair, yeah. Probably get a copper tube external cooling surface for a plate, kind of like a CPU radiator.
